NANS Releases Progress Update on ITF SIWES Payment Verification Exercise

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), through its ITF, SIWES and Other Educational Interventions Verification and Monitoring Committee, has provided a progress update on the ongoing nationwide verification exercise for students who completed their Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) but are yet to receive their Industrial Training Fund (ITF) allowances.

According to the committee, the verification exercise has continued to receive encouraging participation from students across tertiary institutions nationwide following the launch of the NANS ITF SIWES Payment Compilation Portal.

The committee noted that the growing number of submissions reflects the confidence Nigerian students have in the initiative and demonstrates the urgency of resolving outstanding SIWES allowance payments.

NANS explained that the primary objective of the verification exercise is to compile credible data from affected students and utilize the information during engagements with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), relevant government agencies, and other stakeholders responsible for student welfare and educational interventions.

The committee, however, observed that many students who have not received their SIWES allowances are yet to participate in the exercise. It therefore encouraged all eligible students to submit their information without further delay.

According to the committee, every verified submission strengthens its advocacy efforts and enhances its ability to present accurate, evidence-based information during discussions with the Industrial Training Fund, government agencies, and lawmakers.

The committee also commended the leadership of the National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Distinguished Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez (GCNS), for initiating the verification exercise and prioritizing the welfare of Nigerian students.

NANS reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all verified complaints receive adequate attention and promised to continue engaging relevant stakeholders until meaningful progress is achieved regarding outstanding SIWES payments.

The statement was signed by Comrade Ibrahim Abdulrazak Imam, Chairman of the NANS ITF, SIWES and Other Educational Interventions Verification and Monitoring Committee.

UNIHUB CONNECT TV understands that the verification exercise remains ongoing and encourages affected students to participate while awaiting further updates from NANS and the Industrial Training Fund.
